Hermann Lind II has been a member of the Federal Association of the Precious Stones and Diamond Industry eV., Idar-Oberstein, Germany.

Dr. Thomas Lind, the present owner of Hermann Lind II, is a mineralogist by education, who received his diploma degree from Heidelberg University and his doctorate from Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz.

After joining the gemstone business of his family in 1983, he recognised the need of mutual understanding between gemstone industry and scientific gemmology.

Thomas has been a director of the International Colored Gemstone Association from 1999 to 2007 and has served as ICA Vice President from 2003-2007. He is currently serving as vice president of Sector A of CIBJO, the World Jewllery Confederation, which is in charge of preparing the further development and improvement of the CBJO Blue Books.

Thomas is also President of the German Gemmological Association.
